Conqueror’s Blade — now with Fanatics

After the successful experience of adding soldiers of the Swedish Kingdom to the MMO game about battles of armies from different eras, the studio Booming Tech decided to further develop the theme of European wars of the 15th-17th centuries. The next significant state in line was the Sacrum Romanum Empire, which for many centuries occupied the territory of present-day Germany, northern Italy, and eastern France. The DLC already includes Gothic armor and warhorses for heroes, as well as some units, including Doppelsöldners. But now it's time for the next units.

In the original, these fighters are called Zealots. They represent a four-star unit, meaning a high-level army. All Fanatics are clad in Milanese armor, which allows them to withstand the enemy's initial attacks, and are armed with two-handed maces. On the battlefield, the unit serves both defensive and offensive roles — it holds formation well and deals area damage or in the direction specified by the player. The main feature of these soldiers is that as they participate in battle, they accumulate rage points — once the bar is filled, all Zealots ignite and, in addition to regular attacks, also set their enemies on fire. This, of course, is not historically accurate, but it is spectacular.

Newcomers also have other abilities in their arsenal. «I am justice!» allows them to charge at enemy formations and knock them down. «Cycle of Zeal» and «Day of Wrath» provide attacks against multiple targets, with the latter skill raising a shockwave — there's no need to get close to the enemy army. The developers note an important tactical nuance: when fighting with these units, gamers will have to choose between attack and defense, as in a state of rage, Fanatics gain massive damage, but their block strength drops to minimal values. The «Holy Rome» season starts on September 19 — that's when fans of the game will get acquainted with all its new features.
