Chrono Odyssey will be improved after the beta test

The closed beta testing of MMORPG Chrono Odyssey by Kakao Games on Steam has concluded. Following industry tradition, the developers have summarized the results in an open letter and shared plans for the project's further development. Specifically, they will refine the combat system, weapons will receive four development paths, and the game will add a universal texture system and optimization that unloads from memory those locations where nothing is happening. But let's discuss everything in order.

What is known about the further development of Chrono Odyssey?

The developers began their address by thanking those who participated in the testing and left feedback. Processing the data obtained in this way allowed them to create a more or less detailed development plan for the project. One of the main issues during the CBT was the responsiveness of character animations during combat—this aspect will be particularly refined. Additionally, class weapons will receive a «Matrix» upgrade system—with it, players will have a choice of four development paths. The camera angle will be changed in the future, and the duration of reactions will be extended from one second to three or four, making the game less reminiscent of hardcore action RPGs like Dark Souls, as Kakao Games is, after all, publishing an MMORPG.

Second in importance is performance improvement. To this end, the game will not «remember» uninhabited areas of the map and will implement universal textures (which can be reused in different locations), while high-detail Nanite geometry will be applied strictly as needed. Graphics will also be upgraded—in the sense that they will be made more adaptable to different systems. Additionally, the project will support two types of anti-aliasing—DLSS (NVIDIA) and FSR (AMD). Finally, genre fans were assured that the developers will not rush the implementation of the published plans.
