Loncher with a wheel - Bethesda easier: the company goes to Steam
The publishers of The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, DOOM, and Wolfenstein decided to abandon the Bethesda.net game launcher. The branded client had not the best reputation among gamers, offered few features, was demanding for system updates, and to remove it from the computer you had to use additional software like CCleaner - this task was not solved by means of Windows. But the users' agony is over, because now all of the company's products will be available on Steam. As for the Launcher, it will eventually be sent to the dustbin of history.
What's in store for Bethesda.net users in 2022
Employees of the company note: there's no need to rush anywhere - the entire procedure will be gradual. In April of this year, users of Bethesda.net will receive instructions on how to transfer games to the Steam store. The developers guarantee the safety of all information and money in your wallets in the Bethesda launch program. Authorization data will remain the same: with what logins and passwords have logged in Fallout 76 or The Elder Scrolls Online, with these and will continue to enter. Publisher's longcher itself will remain active and fully functional until the beginning of May. Then it will be closed.
In answers to the most pressing questions, Bethesda employees disclosed the details of the upcoming migration. In particular, they reported that some save files will change platform automatically, and others will have to be copied to the Steam folder manually. But accumulated virtual currency of all kinds, including the atoms from Fallout 76, without loss of money will go to an account in the new client, as well as a list of online friends. Also, bonuses from subscriptions like Fallout 1st will remain in place.
