The authors of Wardogs talked about the game's features

Studio Bulkhead, known for the multiplayer shooter Battalion: Legacy, is preparing to release a new online shooter where up to a hundred heroes can fight on its maps in a single session. The project is dedicated to modern warfare and offers an advanced destruction model — with a sufficient supply of explosives, any walls and cover can be demolished. Recently, the developers revealed details of the team-based gameplay and some technical features, although the release date of the novelty remains unknown — the Steam page only lists the year 2026.

What is known about Wardogs at the moment?

The authors themselves call their game a "combat sandbox": three squads with a total number of 100 people fight for control over a 2x2 km zone, while everyone has to both build and destroy cover, using a fleet of vehicles, be it helicopters, tanks, or ordinary armored cars. In general, the rules somewhat resemble the Battlefield series, but with their own features. Here, for example, you can accumulate virtual currency, earning it for achievements on the battlefield and spending it on weapons and ammunition in each match — this mechanic is done as in shooters with extraction. And earning is allowed in any way — no one is obliged to strictly fulfill the conditions of the match or act in cahoots with other team members.

In a recent address to the public, the developers point to three foundations of their shooter: realism, the importance of the decisions made, and gamer-controlled battles. A lot of work has been done in each of these areas. The first point includes recording the sounds of real weapons and simulating the behavior of each bullet individually in accordance with the laws of physics. This also applies to controlling vehicles like helicopters — real specialists in this type of transport were invited to the studio. The next aspect relies on each fighter's equipment and the decisions they make during combat. There are many nuances here, starting from the cost of weapons with consumables and ending with the weight of all the gear — the heavier it is, the slower the character moves.
