Guild Wars 2 Authors to Conduct WvW Test

There's still time to purchase all game expansions at a discount during the Steam PvP Festival. And those who don't manage to do so by February 16th will be able to participate in another interesting activity closer to the end of the month. The fact is that ArenaNet studio intends to conduct beta testing of the updated WvW system, that is, 'World vs. World' format battles. The main goal of the announced event is to test in action the score counter that awards points for achievements to residents of each server.

What will Guild Wars 2 WvW test participants have to do?

Testing will begin on February 27th — this is the day volunteers will need to assemble their teams. Users will learn firsthand about several changes to the victory points calculation system. First, the rules for awarding points for capturing and holding important objectives have been updated. Second, war points will be introduced — they accumulate during two-hour inter-server battles and then are summed up at the end of each week of confrontation. To encourage gamers to be active, developers will temporarily remove rewards for holding points on the map in certain locations during the OBT, instead rewarding defenders and attackers for very specific actions. For example, for eliminating guards, building siege equipment, and reviving teammates.

According to the schedule published by ArenaNet employees, team assembly will occur at the beginning of each week, but the first one will start with the OBT launch — February 27th. And everything will end on April 3rd. Among other important changes mentioned are the installation of resurrection points on the Eternal Battlegrounds without the need for upgrades, as well as access to 'Infinite Support Tools'. Additionally, MMORPG fans will be pleased to know that the game's authors won't limit themselves to just one testing — they intend to conduct a second one later, and only then make final changes.
