Online game based on Frank Herbert's books remains one of the most anticipated releases of 2025. Funcom studio is responsible for its creation, known to fans of the genre for the fantasy sandbox Conan Exiles and MMORPG Secret World Legends. This time the team has taken on the science fiction classics, the interest in which was spurred by the movies of Denis Villeneuve. Recently the company held an event for gaming media, where they showed the current developments, answered questions and made a number of important announcements. We tell you what we know about the game at the moment.

Funcom employees emphasize that their new project will appeal to fans of immersive experience - when it is possible and necessary to interact with the virtual world. They set the release for the first half of this year, but no one still does not give specific dates. At launch, the game will be a paid game, but without subscriptions or purchased combat boosts. Each gamer's adventure will begin as a single-player campaign - you will act as a prisoner who passes the Bene Gesserit test with a poisoned needle. It is this test that determines who the character will be in the desolate world of Arrakis. Then the hero (or heroine) is rescued by Freemen, taught the basics of survival in the desert and released on all four sides. You can join the Atreides, the Harkonnens, or stay in the same boat with the inhabitants of the sands.

Interestingly, at the launch of the servers Atreides will be much stronger than their arch-rivals, which is a bit out of the canon. The initial location will be named Hagga Basin, and the movement across the map will gradually accelerate: first the heroes run on their own, then they will get cat hooks, ground and air modes of transportation - of course, we are talking about ornithopters. To switch from personal history to factions and guilds' squabbles, while gaining the necessary level, you will need up to 40 to 100 hours. On this path will help about 500 missions and randomly generated on the planet points of interest. The universal currencies in "Dune" will be spice and water.
