Assassin's Creed in Space: Revelations from the developer of the third installment
The other day Alex Hutchinson, who was responsible for the creation of Assassin's Creed III, talked with a journalist from Eurogamer website. Among other things, he confirmed some of the rumors that have been circulating around the web for a long time. The series of games about assassins, according to the developer, could end with the third part, and its hero left the Earth in a starship.
Back in 2019, a conspiracy theorist revealed to the public the essence of the first version of the Assassin's Creed scenario. The series was planned as a trilogy with an unambiguous ending with no continuation. According to the plot, the main character Desmond Miles defeated the Abstergo Corporation using the experience of his medieval ancestors. Alex Hutchinson, the developer of Assassin's Creed III, recently confirmed this information in a conversation with Eurogamer.
He said, that according to the initial idea the apocalypse happened in the game's world, and Desmond Miles and Lucy went to another system by spaceship, where they, like Adam and Eve, rebuilt humanity. That's why the female character was named Lucy, after the remains of Australopithecus afarensis, a distant ancestor of humans. However, the Ubisoft series turned out to be so successful, that they decided to prolong it, and Patrice Desile - the person who invented Assassin's Creed and the whole story about the space flight - left the company in search of creative freedom. He returned to the theme of Australopithecus and the beginning of civilization in 2019, publishing the author's project Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey.
