Anthem was finally shut down

BioWare's multiplayer shooter, where heroes in power armor conquer the dangerous planet of Koda, was announced shortly after the release of Mass Effect 3 — back in 2012. But the development of the ambitious game dragged on, and the result received mixed reviews. As a result, since 2019 Anthem has been saddled with a reputation as a beautiful and technologically advanced MMO project with a mediocre story and boring gameplay. Nevertheless, even such entertainment found its fans — it was they who begged publisher Electronic Arts not to shut down the servers. But the inevitable still happened in January of this year.

Farewell to Anthem and server shutdown

Once upon a time BioWare released hits one after another — the studio's account includes legendary RPG series, including Dragon Age, Mass Effect and adventures in the «Star Wars» universe. Thus the company received infinite credit of trust and, having secured the support of the publisher in the person of EA, embarked on the implementation of the «dream project» — its main work. And it turned into the first major failure of the studio in its entire history. We'd argue, few people realized this fantastic MMO remained available until recently — most gamers simply forgot about it. However, a fan club for the game did appear during its seven years of existence.

Before the servers were shut down, they experienced an influx of gamers wishing to properly say goodbye to the online shooter. They expressed regrets and arranged activities for themselves such as showing off uniquely decorated javelins (power armor) on Reddit. Another challenge before the closing — collecting unearned achievements in time. Gamers began publishing screenshots in the network with trophies hastily earned in just a day or two. As users report, the technical state of the shooter shortly before its final liquidation left much to be desired — it constantly crashed to the desktop, and the network code worked terribly.
