Online game Horizon: Steel Frontiers announced

Many gamers are familiar with the Horizon series of adventure action games from Guerilla Games. The main character of this cycle is a girl named Aloy, who is trying to uncover the secrets of a world devastated by a catastrophe and populated by intelligent machines. NCSoft, known for Guild Wars 2 and Lineage II, has taken on the task of bringing the world of single-player adventures into the MMORPG format. In this case, the publisher is none other than Sony Entertainment. The official announcement has already taken place: the public was shown a trailer and the first gameplay demonstration of Horizon: Steel Frontiers. Let's find out what is known about the project.

In the world of «Horizon», civilization has been destroyed, and people are forced to live a primitive lifestyle. They interact in their own way with the robots that have populated the Earth, resembling dinosaurs and other beasts: some are used as mounts, while others are simply hunted to obtain valuable spare parts. This same universe will be transferred to the MMORPG without any changes. The game will take place in a new area called Deadlands — as the developers report, this will be a large seamless map divided into zones based on activities and the danger level of the mechanical fauna. The design of the locations is inspired by the nature of the states of Arizona and New Mexico.

Gamers will take on the roles of robot hunters. Both regular enemies and bosses are announced, each of which will require a special approach to battle. Judging by the video, heroes will be allowed to use a grappling hook, act together, and climb up the gigantic mechanisms, like the giants in Shadow of the Colossus. The release is expected on PC and mobile devices, while the release of the project on PlayStation consoles was not announced, although Sony is listed in the credits as the publisher.
