New Don't Starve with multiplayer announced
Over more than ten years of its existence, the cartoon survival simulator from Klei Entertainment has managed to acquire cult status and collect a number of important industry awards. One thing was bad: the original game was single-player and did not support any online modes. To solve this problem, in 2016 the developers released a standalone spin-off with co-op and the subtitle Together, but even this measure was considered insufficient by fans. Finally, April 2026 marked the announcement of a new installment in the series Don't Starve — this time with multiplayer built-in from the start.
What is known about Don't Starve Elsewhere at the moment?

As can be seen from the trailer and screenshots, the new game will retain the visual style of the original. You and your friends will take control of big-headed characters that seem to have come out of Tim Burton's cartoons and survive in a large open world full of similarly drawn monsters. The key to success in this endeavor will be ingenuity: almost all items and forces in the virtual universe can combine with each other — if you bring fire to grass, it will catch fire, and to build complex things you first need to find simple resources. Gameplay differs between daytime and nighttime, and this is related not only to the narrowing of the field of view but also to the activity of some creatures. Therefore, the heroes will need to build a base to hide inside it after dusk.
Developers promise a larger number of unique biomes than in the 2013 game: you will be able to explore mountains and valleys, cross rivers and seas, and descend into deep caves. Weather effects will be tied to certain limitations. For example, if you enter a sequoia forest, you will be caught in downpours that will make using open fire more difficult. And fog poses a particular danger. The release date and system requirements for Elsewhere have not yet been published, but the game can already be added to your Steam wishlist to follow updates.
